I Like

I like trees, but not their branches.
I like going outside, but not when it rains.
I like dogs but not their claws.
I like school but not maths.
I like play-dates but not when it’s boring.
I like my hair but not when it’s messy.

MATHS MAGIC TRICK

On Thursday the 28th of February at school, Mr Tucker showed the class a magic trick.

First the P.A. Bianca chose a volunteer to go at the back of the classroom and write a number for the magic trick between 1-63.

Jack wrote a special number and showed the class while Mr Tucker was counting in the corner for five seconds so he could not see the number.

When Mr Tucker got up to five seconds Jack hid the number and Mr Tucker took 6 cards out.

After that Mr Tucker asked Jack to get the cards and find the cards that had his number. Jack's number was 20 and was on two of the cards.

Mr Tucker counted the cards and then separated his fingers and waved his hands over the cards, and slapped the cards.

Then Mr Tucker gave a card to Lucy A and then she gave it back to him. He made sure that Jacks number was on the cards and then guessed the number. The number was 20.

Math Magic Trick

Today Mr Tucker wanted to play a magic trick. He asked Jack to be his assistant. Mr Tucker gave Jack a yellow piece of paper and a vivid. After that Mr Tucker told Jack to go to the back of the room and write a number from 1 to 63.

Mr Tucker told Jack to write it down on the piece of paper and not to show him. Next, Mr Tucker turned around for 5 seconds. Meanwhile Jack was showing what number he had to the class. He had the number 20. Then Mr Tucker got about 5 cards. He asked Jack which cards had his number on them. Jack had to say which ones had his number on. There were 2 cards with his number on them.

Mr Tucker asked Lucy A to pick one of the cards that had Jack’s number on it. Mr. Tucker picked up the card that Lucy didn’t pick, he said the number was on the top row. He was right. Then he said it wasn’t on the ends. He covered up 2 numbers on each end, he was right again.
He said it was in the middle. He covered the 2 on the ends that he wasn’t covering, he was right. Now he just had to guess which one out of the 2 was left. He chose the number 20, he was correct!

I have no idea how he did it but I really want to see him do it again.
