Spelling

Today we had a look at the Spelling City website.  We had a turn playing some of the free spelling games and then created a list of our own.  Playing the games uses words from students' own lists and helps them to learn and remember how to spell them.
It could be learning speling in a fun way.  

There is an app for ipad/iphone/ipod which is a free download.
An Android version is expected to be available early this year.

Portraits

We have some great work up in our classroom.

We made self-portraits with paint and pastel and then added to the portraits by including words about ourselves. Students selected size and fonts, then designed the layout of their art, deciding where the portrait, the words and the name would go.

Touch Typing

In Room 8 we are working on our touch typing.

In the computer room we are working through the levels on Dance Mat Typing to improve our accuracy and speed.  This will help us to complete tasks on the computers, laptops and ipads with speed.  Students are focussed and keen.

How We Work

We are finding out where and how we like to work.

For different activities or learning we may want to work by ourselves, in a pair or a group.  This means that sometimes we will work at a desk, table, chair, on the floor or any other place that suits our purpose. Sometimes working outside helps us do our best job.

We are reminded to make wise choices about where we work and who we work with.
